What should students expect from your class?

An athletic and alignment-driven practice that will encourage you to tune in your awareness from the ground up.

About Me

I attended my first hot yoga class in fourth year university on a dare and was promptly hooked. Right away I started a 40-day challenge which inspired an early interest in teaching. In 2012, I completed a 200-hour training at the Absolute Yoga Academy in Koh Samui, Thailand, and began teaching hot yoga in Shanghai, China, where I was privileged to work with a diverse group of students and teachers from around the globe. Since those early days, I’ve taught a variety of yoga styles, from the traditional 26-posture hot yoga sequence and those developed by Absolute Yoga and YYOGA to freestyle flow, power, and deep stretch sequences. Personally what I enjoy is helping students find their “Aha!” moments—the small shifts in technique, alignment, or attitude that move them further into their practice on and off the mat.

What should students expect from your class?

A soothing experience you can melt into, blended with the guidance to tap into your own power and strength.

About Me

I have always been enamoured with physical movement and felt empowered by its therapeutic benefits. It wasn’t until my early teenage years that I was first introduced to the Yoga Asana and it has forever changed the way I experience the world around me. I fell in love with the external expression of the practice, but also felt illuminated by its internal teachings. For many years, my passion for yoga, tempered by a background in strength training, has provided me a perfect, harmonious balance for body and mind.

I have studied psychology with a major in counselling, completed my 200-Hour, YHot, and Yin Teacher Training. While I currently teach in-studio and offer private lessons, I will forever be a student – sharing my knowledge is as much a step in my own learning experience as is it my students’.

In my classes, we integrate the physical experience into spiritual awareness by cultivating focus, reflection, and exploring areas of ourselves that may be unfamiliar. For the duration of class, it’s just you, your body, your breath, and nothing else. As an introvert, this practice is a time and place where I feel especially at home – it is my purpose as a teacher to make my students feel the same.

What should students expect from your class?

Challenging, rhythmic movement & supremely curated playlists.

About Me

I began teaching unique & evolutionary movement classes in Vancouver in 2011. In the last decade, I have acquired hundreds of hours in training in various lineages of Yoga & Classical Pilates. A yoga practitioner since childhood, my classes are informed by a lifelong dedication of inquiry into movement & philosophical musings on what it means to develop steady consciousness within the capricious existence of the human mind. My classes are a creative alchemy; dancing between strength & grace. I’m here to set the stage for each student to be challenged, inspired, & met with compassion. Freedom to express — add on, or take away — is always welcome in my space.

What should students expect from your class?

I had gone to some yoga in my teens and early twenties but it wasn’t until I came to my first class at Yyoga NSE in February 2009 that I was hooked. I didn’t realize that I was holding my breath a lot of my day and that was leading to anxiety. That was the beginning of a beautiful journey. Every time I get on my mat I feel like I’m home. In the summer of 2014 I decided to take my Teacher Training at Yyoga and started teaching soon after that. Yoga for me is so much more than just the physical practice and I encourage students to explore their practice in their own life.

About Me

Expect to feel welcome and supported to explore your practice as you are that day.

Classes

What should students expect from your class?

Students can expect a class that is designed to build heat, and then calm and restore – the perfect balance.

About Me

There are many ways to move. I regard yoga as an empowering and transformative practice that should be available to everyone. We are constantly changing and as time passes, we have the opportunity to grow and learn.  Yoga teaches us to be present and active as those changes take place and to be conscious participants in our own evolution.

One of the many things that yoga has taught me is that a few long slow breaths can help to calm the mind and body, making the very scary become less daunting. Through movement guided by breath, I have learnt how to live in a calmer more grounded place. By holding space for people in this way I hope that the yoga I am offering can empower and unite while allowing space and time to clear the mind and create ease in the body.

I did my 200 hour TT in Todos Santos, Mexico, took my hot training with Yyoga in 2012 then my 300 hour TT at the Vancouver School of Yoga. Along with the yoga I am also an artist, an art teacher and an avid cyclist.

What can students expect from your class?

Students can expect a challenging class for all levels with a focus on alignment and breath.

About Me

My practice began 15 years ago. I was inspired to try yoga as a recuperation from a lingering shoulder injury. My experience during this time opened many new doors and eventually motivated me to pursue a career in yoga. Initially I took Sivananda Yoga and Yoga Nidra classes. My first teacher training in 2013 taught me the importance of commitment and dedication to daily practice. However, it was not until I took my first Power yoga class two years later that I realized power yoga was my true calling. To this day, you will find me most happy when I am on my mat and helping students reach their full potential.

What should students expect from your class?

A workout that will leave them feeling stronger, more flexible and balanced.

About Me

I have been teaching Mat Pilates since 2006. I am also currently working on the Reformer, Cadillac and Chair with clients of different ages, strengths and abilities. I enjoy teaching small groups where I can pay attention to detail, with focus on alignment and breath. I am passionate about my clients becoming stronger while they regain mobility, ease of movement and confidence.

I am also certified in Yoga and Yin Yoga, and apply some of the stretching techniques to my teaching style. My classes offer props and modifications in order to create a more challenging workout, while at the same time being inclusive of a wide range of strengths and postural limitations.

I look forward to seeing you in my classes!

Classes

What should students expect from your class?

A playful and strong practice inspired by tradition.

About Me

Having studied in the birth place of yoga, India- my classes integrate traditional foundations of physical asana, pranayama (breath work), yoga philosophy and mantra (chanting) meditation with a present day approach to philosophy and practice that provides students with a whole and integrative experience.

Yoga has strengthened my connection to self by finding a balanced practice of patient discipline and experiencing playfulness through the union of breath and movement. Traditional philosophy, mythology and mantra are the heart of my practice. These practices provide wisdom that connect me to my ancestral roots and our innate expansive capacity. It is with this passion for the ‘yuj’ (union) of all parts of what the practice truly provides that I share with my students.

What should students expect from your class?

A nurturing, meditative class with a strong emphasis on alignment and safety. Students will leave feeling rejuvenated, grounded and centred.

About Me

I have been practicing Yoga for two decades and teaching for 12. I remember the first time I practiced, I felt at home in my body for the first time and I knew that I had a lot to heal and learn.

I started teaching Chair Yoga to seniors and since have taught all ages and abilities, including corporate events and retreats.

I love Yoga because you never stop learning. It has a wonderful way of humbling us and bring us back to centre.

About Me

Teaching yoga will always be my first love. Additionally, I work full time 1:1 helping women who struggle with flight anxiety feel calm, safe, and confident in the sky so they can enjoy travel again.

I experienced my first yoga class in 1997 and practiced almost daily for two years, loving how it transformed my life. I began teaching Hatha Yoga in 1999. Between 2004-2006, I traveled to India for nine months studying backbending and asana. From 2005-2008, I studied Yin Yoga with Sarah Powers and Zen Meditation with Shakti Mhi.

My Hatha classes are traditional, unhurried, and light in energy, while my Yin classes honor the original meridian-based practice. Outside of yoga, I’m a certified EFT Tapping, Emotion Code, EQ Life Coach, and Bio Energy practitioner.

What should students expect from your class?

Expect to work hard and have some laughs.

About Me

My yoga practice and teaching journey began over 20 years ago in San Francisco, California where, after my first 200 hour teacher training, I managed and taught vinyasa yoga at one of the largest Ashtanga schools in the US. This incredible experience led me to Vancouver where I met my husband Jason, also a yoga teacher and together, we opened three local yoga studios, created and led two seasons of “Flow Yoga” for channel M television, and designed and led our own comprehensive 200 hour yoga teacher training program for five years.

In 2007, we partnered with YYOGA and started building the community to bring it to life and what it is today.

My passion for teaching functional movement in the Pilates and yoga systems has been steadfast and mentoring teachers and growing our community continues to bring me pride and joy every day.
