What should students expect from your class?

Students can expect both physically challenging and emotionally relaxing class for their minds with lots of breath.

About Me

I was born and grew up in Japan. I started my yoga practice in 2003 when I was struggling to control my stress due to the hard work pace as an accountant in Tokyo. I found peace of mind through deep breathing during my yoga practice. I moved to Vancouver in 2010 with my Canadian partner who I met in Tokyo.

I finished the RYT 200 hour training at YYOGA college in 2011. I have taught over a thousand classes in Vancouver, Japan, and online since 2012. In my classes, I give several modifications so participants can choose postures that they can comfortably connect with their breath. My teaching goal is to guide classes that welcome everyone to find comfort and relaxation through deep breaths, stretching, and strengthening of their muscles. I believe that through my class, my wish is for everyone to be happier and healthier people, and connect with themselves and with others.

What should students expect from your class?

A gentle and restorative practice that will have you floating out of the studio.

About Me

My Yoga journey started with a Groupon purchase that led me to an unlimited month pass at a local studio. After taking the first class, I was immediately hooked. I went every day that month and subsequently purchased an annual membership – the rest is history. Fast forward a year later I decided to take a leap of faith and completed my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training. I hope to share my practice and energy to those in my classes and truly connect with each of my students. Expect my classes to always be different, I love switching up my sequences every week to give everyone a new experience each time they step onto their mat. Be ready to chill out on your Yoga mats with me – reset, restore, and relax (you will leave the studio feeling lighter and refreshed, I promise).

I truly believe that Yoga is more than just Asanas (physical practice) and Pranayama (breath work), it is also about community. Seeing a class full of people from all different walks of life on their mats practicing Yoga fills my heart. It is magic. I am beyond excited to share my practice with the YYOGA community. Did I mention, I play singing bowls in my classes? Get ready to allow the vibrations of the bowls cleanse your Chakras and so much more.

What should students expect from your class?

An alignment-based class, a place to explore, seek your edge, have fun, be quiet, whatever your body needs in the moment.

About Me

My yoga practice began a decade ago when I decided to drop into my local YMCA for a yoga class to help mend my hips after 25 years of running. I was gifted to land in a yin class with an amazing teacher, who I followed from that class to her vinyasa class and from to studio to studio. What began as a way to support my running has morphed into a way to support all aspects of my life, and that’s why I wanted to share this amazing practice with others. Since discovering yoga, I am a perpetual student of movement and the human body, currently working through a Kinesiology diploma and getting certified in the Functional Movement Screen, and taking anatomy and movement training whenever I can. That shows up in my teaching in a focus on alignment, in curiosity and intention, and encouraging students to find strength, stillness, or openness they didn’t know they had.

What should students expect from your class?

A mindful practice, that encourages curiosity in exploring the body, mind and soul.

About Me

I have always been motivated by learning tools I can use to better support others and as a qualified social worker, working with individuals, families, and communities to explore trauma and reduce inequality. I first tried yoga purely to increase my strength and flexibility, not realizing the life-enhancing journey it would lead me on. Being naturally energetic, I surprised myself with being drawn to the quiet and contemplative practices of Hatha and Yin. This increased my awareness of emotional responses within the body and led me to also train in dance and movement psychotherapy. Striving for authenticity, I completed my first yoga teacher training living with a family in a small town in India. Having yoga passed down to me as it had been passed down to them.

I am a Ghanaian-Brit based globally who has the pleasure of connecting and sharing my practices with communities all over the world.

What should students expect from your class?

Expect a steady and easy to follow vinyasa flow appropriate for all levels. This is a great class for those who are new to yoga, flow or power. Experienced practitioners will appreciate the opportunities to add on.

About Me

I teach yoga and high school math in Vancouver. I’ve practiced and studied both subjects for a long time and love to teach them to others. You may be surprised to learn that yoga and math are similar from an education perspective. Both subjects use repetition and progressions for deeper understanding, opportunities, and applications. My cues are chosen to help you feel stable in your poses so you can experience freedom and a sense of spaciousness. I use clear language so beginners always know what to do and continuing students can drop into their practices. My class is breath-centered and uses gaze and concentration. My playlist is selected to keep you feeling relaxed and supported.

I enjoy early morning practice, coffee, long walks, vegetarian cooking, and Ashtanga Vinyasa. I’m inspired by the teachings of Michael Stone and Alan Watts. I’m very interested in the philosophy of non-dualism. I’m appreciative of all my teachers including Clara Roberts-Oss for teaching me sequencing, Michelle Young for teaching me Subtle Bodies, and Fiona Stang for holding space for me in the Mysore room. I’m 500hr RYT certified with an additional 100hr training in vinyasa sequencing (Prana Flow Wave Theory).

What can students expect from your class?

I teach with the intention to lead my students back to themselves. You can expect safe movements, great tunes, fun sequences, a sweet little invitation to dive deeper into your soul, and a whole lot of love and support in each one of my classes.

About Me

I began practicing yoga at the age of 12 and haven’t stopped since. Big shout out to my mom for making me take my first-ever yoga class with her. My passion for yoga has lead me down many different avenues. I’ve found wisdom through hot, vinyasa, hatha, yin, restorative, and aerial styles of practice. In addition, I’ve gained clarity in my life through my continual study of yogic philosophy.

I did both my 200-hour vinyasa/hatha based training, as well as 50 hours of aerial yoga teacher training, on the island of Koh Phangan in Thailand. I am also a trained massage therapist and I hope to one day blend these two special gifts of mine together.

What should students expect from your class?

A space to connect with yourself, to recharge, and to build a relationship between body, mind, and spirit. A lot of options to ground, play, and challenge your practice.

About Me

My yoga and meditation practice started back in Spain, where I am from, in a time when I was unconnected from my true self. Through my practice and thanks to amazing mentors and teachers, I developed the tools I needed to reconnect and find my path. This journey took me to Vancouver in 2018, where I immersed myself into the deep teachings of yoga and meditation.

I practice every day in one or another way to be able to open my heart and share all my learnings to the world. I believe blindly in the power of practice and consciousness to create the world and the life experience that we desire. We have everything we need inside of us and this is my personal offering for everyone to find it.

What can students expect from your class?

Students should expect a strong, sweaty and grounded flow that brings them back to their bodies and centre – ultimately releasing what no longer serves them and brings them closer and closer to their true nature.

About Me

I began my yoga journey while attending my Mum’s hatha classes in my late teens. Discovering yoga as the ultimate tool to connect mind, body and spirit I later went on to complete my Ashtanga and Vinyasa 200 hour training in South Goa, India. I bring a strong, sweaty and grounded style to the mat while intertwining philosophical and creative elements into my practice. My approach is to empower people by helping them drop down into their bodies and find their inner strength and joy. As a musician, I always try my best to keep classes fun and varied combining all kinds of musical genres. I strive to bring yoga directly into the heart of the LGBT+ and male communities, sharing my passion and serving others on a daily basis.

What should students expect from your class?

Expect to drop into the present moment, settle the mind and connect with yourself through movement, challenge and play.

About Me

As a former figure skater, I cannot imagine my life without movement. The gateway to yoga for me was through hot and power yoga. 15 years of practice and 500 hours of teacher training later, what I love about yoga is that it’s a life-long pursuit and is complimentary to all the activities I get up to. I offer a fiery, alignment-focused practice that melts into a mindful and heart-felt conclusion. I have learned from teachers in Montreal and Vancouver where I studied from Danielle Mika Nagel, Christine Selda and Jasmina Egeler.

What should students expect from your class?

A stronger and kinder connection to themselves.

About Me

As a yoga teacher and a nature lover, my hope is to help guide you through breath to a deeper inner awareness. I have been practicing yoga for over two decades and have been teaching since 2009. During that time I have taught public classes at Yyoga, facilitated workshops, hosted local/international retreats and been a Lululemon Ambassador.

Most recently I completed my 300hr Vinyasa training with Clara Roberts-Oss. Throughout the years I have trained and practiced with a wide range of local and international teachers. As a student I have deep gratitude for all of my teachers including Patrick Creelman, Ana Forest, Kristin Campbell, Baron Baptiste to name a few.

I currently teach flow/vinyasa public yoga classes at Highgate Yyoga. I am also trained to teach Hot, Restorative, Power and Hatha Yoga.

What should students expect from your class?

A chance to land, however this day finds you, to breathe on purpose, and to be both challenged and grounded.

About Me

Yoga drew me in like nothing else had before. The practice connected me to myself on so many levels; I was able to tap into a new depth of subtlety – in mind, body, and breath. The physical challenge of the practice provided enough intensity to require presence, and the skillful way that my teachers were able to hold space created a collective energy that added a communal dimension to our individual explorations, efforts, and internal reckonings. It was playfulness, reverence, and discipline in just the right mix. Something clicked. I took my foundational 200 hour teacher training in 2009, and in 2014 completed my 300 hour advanced teacher training with Christine Price Clark, as well as my Yoga Outreach Trauma Sensitive Training. I explored meditation through vipassana and teachers like Rod Stryker and Adyashanti, the philosophical lineage of yoga through my studies at Simon Fraser University, bio-mechanical awareness and creative sequencing through Clara Roberts-Oss and Schuyler Grant, and the reminder via teachers like Sjanie McInnis that the integrity called for in the inner dimensions of practice is intimately linked to our outer actions, and social justice. Yoga, a perpetual invitation to make myself available to the moment. This one.
