With gratitude and blessings, see you on the mat.

Hi, my name is Helia. My journey with yoga began as a way to reconnect with my body and calm my mind, but it soon evolved into a deeper practice of awareness, compassion, and balance. About Me

I took my first yoga class in the mid-90s, returning to a more consistent practice in 2009. Over the years, I’ve learned that yoga is always there, patient and steady. In 2019, I committed to making it a daily practice, both on and off the mat. I completed my teacher training through YYOGA, where I found deep transformation in ways I never dreamed possible. I believe confidence, strength, and beauty exist within all of us, and I aim to help students discover the power of movement and the even greater power found in the moments of stillness. For fun, when I travel, I take classes at local studios to connect with new places and remind myself that yoga lives within and all around us. It is an honour and privilege to teach and be part of the incredible YYOGA community.

About Me

My yoga journey began with brief dalliances 4 decades ago, but I became committed to a regular practice in the early 2000s when I began studying the Ashtanga Vinyasa method. Everything changed: my career, my body, my diet. Over the years, I have completed numerous workshops and retreats in various countries with teachers from the Sivananda, Ashtanga, Iyengar, Anusara, Vijnana and Yin lineages. I completed a 240-hour enriched teacher training at the Vancouver School of Yoga, a 50-hour yin teacher training at Semperviva and mentorships at YYOGA and Yoga4StiffGuys.

I am a father, a partner, a runner, a chef, a holistic nutritionist, a personal trainer; my yoga practice is informed by all of these now, it begins with the breath and is about exploring the edges of our mobility and strength while moving our bodies safely.

I look forward to seeing you on the mat!

About Me

A student of yoga since 2005, and my path has been deeply shaped by the intersections of movement, philosophy, and healing. I’ve studied Jivamukti Yoga, trained in trauma-informed approaches, and I’m a continuing student of non-dual tantric traditions, which deeply inform both my personal practice and teaching. As a somatic therapist, I bring a sensitivity to the nervous system into my classes—inviting a pace and presence that supports both embodiment and integration. My teaching is grounded in the belief that practice is not about striving or fixing, but about remembering what’s already healthy and whole. Expect a blend of breath, guided embodiment practices, and spacious inner inquiry.

What can students expect from your class?

In my classes, I aim to create a supportive and challenging space for exploration. I emphasize functional movement, building stability for long-term freedom in body, mind, and spirit. I value balance—challenge and rest, strength and surrender, effort and ease—and I love incorporating music to elevate the vibe! Whether you’re brand new to movement or looking to deepen your practice, I’d love to meet you where you’re at.✌️🪷

About Me

I started my journey through movement as a ballet dancer at the age of four and was introduced to Yoga and Pilates along the way. After I retired from dance my focus shifted to deepening my yoga practice and connecting more to what my body and spirit needed. That led me to completing my 200Hr hatha + Vinyasa training with Yogacara in 2015 and other trainings in YHot, Mat and Reformer Pilates followed.

Classes

What can students expect from your class?

Students in my class can expect creative and thematic flows inspired by nature, philosophy, or culture — all within a safe space where they can feel both challenged and empowered.

About Me

I’ve always been deeply passionate about movement, anatomy, and health. As a professional dancer and dance instructor, I’ve had the privilege of continuously engaging with my body and exploring different movement modalities. When I discovered yoga, it became a powerful tool for personal growth. It helped me find stillness, overcome challenges, heal my hormones, and most importantly, reconnect with my body/spirit. Yoga has been transformative for me, and I’m passionate about sharing that same healing and empowerment with others. I hold a BA in Foreign Languages & Cultural Studies from UBC, and I completed my 200-hour YTT with a focus on the Iyengar method. My goal in every class is to create a safe and supportive space where students feel free, inspired, and seen — no matter their experience level.
