What should students expect from your class?

Expect to move with alignment guidance that connects you to your unique form to build strength, flexibility (safe range of motion), and harmonizing your inner compass. Focus on quieting the nervous system to embody all that life has to offer in a safe space.

About Me

My journey began in 1998 with a paperback version of “The Sivananda Companion to Yoga.” I am an experienced registered yoga teacher level 350 (CYA-E-RYT-350), certified in restorative, kids, Yin, YHot, prenatal, and Ayurveda Yoga.

Pre-Yoga, I got my BA in Criminology wanting to save the world, then got an acupuncture certification wanting to heal the world. In the process, I became a Reiki Master and learned that my earlier aspirations began with me. I am a teacher and foremost a student. I continue to learn from the Feldenkrais method, I-rest Yoga Nidra meditation method, and am enthusiastic about the biotensegrity world in understanding movements. I’m also certified in the Pilates method.

What should students expect from your class?

An alignment-based practice that encourages you to open your mind to the possibility of transformation.

About Me

I started teaching yoga in 2008, and shortly after I began I left my job in the healthcare field. My teaching career has been mostly based out of Vancouver but I have also taught overseas in Asia for a short period of time as well. I teach an alignment-based practice that is dynamic and accessible for students of all levels. I encourage you to move at your own pace and to listen to how your body is feeling at that moment in time. I provide a safe and welcoming space for my students to explore their own practice and to dive a little deep into their own self-journey. My hopes are for you to leave my class feeling empowered and motivated to continue on in your yoga journey, and to embrace living a peaceful life both on and off your mat. I look forward to seeing you in my class.

Classes

What should students expect from your class?

Students can expect a dynamic, alignment based Vinyasa flow designed to be inclusive and empowering. Expect lots of breath inspired movements, heart openers, and arm balance opportunities, all complemented with a slow, sweet cool down.

About Me

I studied with the incomparable Daniel Clement to obtain my 240 hour teacher training certification in 2011. I have trained with Yyoga’s mentorship program under the tutelage of Clara Roberts-Oss, completed Leslie Kaminoff and Amy Matthews’s Yoga Anatomy program via Pacific Elements, and studied meditation with Carlos Pomeda. I have been leading classes at Yyoga since 2014 and I am a member of the Yyoga teacher training faculty.

For me, Yoga offers a safe space to practice discernment and loving acceptance. The physical practice offers me insight from a truthful place and those discoveries from the mat are what make me the awesome, work in progress human that I am today. I believe Yoga is a dedicated daily practice, the purpose of which is not to change us, but to reveal our highest self and to remind of us of our deep and abiding connection to one another.

Classes

What should students expect from your class?

An authentic experience that’s both challenging and fun, yet precise and dynamic.

About Me

As a native British Columbian, my roots are grounded in the rolling hills of the Okanagan Valley. Innately raised with a passion for fitness and health, I began my true journey towards complete body wellness at the age of sixteen. Channeling a fulfillment of my desire to nurture others, I began teaching freestyle dance, as a way to connect creativity with the fluidity of the body.

Along my travels to different corners of the world, I gained a deeper respect for the practice of yoga. Through the teachings of Don and Amba Stapleton, at the Nosara Yoga Institute, I studied the fundamentals of Interdisciplinary Yoga as a way to move and channel excess energy back into the earth. In search of deeper understanding of the mechanics of the physical body, I discovered acclaimed YogaWorks instructor Gerhard Gessner. With his guidance, I adopted yoga as an everyday lifestyle approach towards the pathway to longevity.

Applying each element of experience, I strive to share my knowledge of this ancient practice to intermix fitness and movement and make my classes accessible to everyone. My outgoing and authentic teaching style motivates each of my students to unearth their fullest potential while also discovering self-assurance.

What should students expect from your class?

Students can expect a well rounded experience of being in their bodies, in the moment and above all, learning about their amazing, unique bodies!

About Me

I am extremely passionate about the human body and achieving optimal health through physical activity, diet and lifestyle. In my classes, you’ll be guided through a practice focused on your breath, optimal alignment, and accessing how you truly feel in your own unique mind and body. I often speak about being true to yourself, regardless of if that means you show up to class on your best or worst day.

I have been teaching since 2014. Over this time, I have gained a wide variety of teaching experience which has given me the tools to teach to all levels and be attentive to physical limitations and injuries. I love learning about all things wellness and always consider myself a student as well as a teacher. Regardless of why you’ve come onto your mat, my goal is to have you leave my class feeling like you’ve done something great for yourself while also learning a thing or two!

What should students expect from your class?

In my class, you will experience mindfulness, connect with yourself and the world around you. I encourage you to cultivate loving and kindness, acceptance, and non-judgment. You will leave my class feeling one step closer to be back home: the reunion of your body, mind, and spirit.

About Me

I came to yoga 13 years ago due to my back pain. Witnessing the benefits of yoga: back pain gone, toned body and peaceful mind, and better sleep… I was determined to spread the benefits of yoga to as many people as possible. After I finished my Yoga Teacher Training 2014 at Langara College, I started to teach yoga right away. I teach with compassion, care, and love for Yoga, and for everyone I encounter.

Classes

What should students expect from your class?

An invitation to observe and witness your experience. Breath is the life force, and the initiator of all movement and thoughts. My strong focus on alignment and physical form is not in pursuit of a shape, but rather as a pathway inward. The body is not used to get into the pose, but rather the poses are the way into the body. My hope is that fellow yogis leave my class knowing a little bit more about themselves, and feeling physically, emotionally, and energetically spacious.

About Me

I have been practicing yoga since 2010 and teaching since 2014. It is my own personal practice which nourishes me, and you will find me as a student on the mat most days, gaining insight and inspiration from my community of fellow teachers and yogis. I was first introduced to yoga to when my acting teacher brought in a yoga teacher for a special workshop. Inspired by the experience, I joined YYOGA, where I was able to explore breath and movement in a way that helped her connect deeper, both to herself and to those around me. This led me to complete a 200-Hour Teacher Training in 2014 with YYOGA. I teach yin, prenatal, hatha, power, flow, and YHot classes. I believe in continued learning and training in all areas of life, seeking out the presence and gift of a beginner’s mindset. Additional teacher trainings completed include 50-Hour Yin with Bernie Clark, 85-Hour Prenatal with Teresa Campbell, 25-Hour Vinyasa Flow with Seane Corn, Meditation with Carolyn Ann Budgell, Yoga Nidra with Michèle Denis, and YSculpt with Hana Weinwurm. My classes are a warm invitation to let go of doing, and get into feeling. “Your only job is to breathe, and to watch yourself breathe”. The end goal practicing yoga is not about getting stronger in the poses, but about practicing presence so you can show up in your life off the mat.
