Laurisa's exploration of yoga began in 2005 amidst the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains and it was love at first breath. Three years of consistent practice and curiosity led her to complete her 200 hr YTT at Yoga Thailand in 2008. Always inspired by travel, she journeyed to India the following year and spent four months there studying with various yogis in the motherland of Yoga. She is dedicated to upholding the ancient practices and it is her intention, as a teacher, to create a safe, positive and uplifting experience for students to explore their inner landscape to unearth the treasures that a practice of mindful movement and conscious breath help to excavate. An eternal explorer as well as a bit of a wild child, you can find her running in the forests, rocking out to live music, creating art, making magic with food, growing gardens, working part time at a Diner in the desert and exploring our vast beautiful world.
What should students expect from your class? The space be nourished from the inside out as we self regulate towards peace. As a teacher, it is my intention to encourage my students to cultivate balance and harmony by connecting to conscious breath coupled with creative mindful movement, so that when we move off the mat and go about our days we create a ripple effect of caring, kindness, mindfulness and compassion, as well as equipping ourselves with the tools to embody presence in the face of challenges and triumphs alike.
