Alana Taylor has been teaching yoga since 2013 in various locations on the North Shore. In that time she has added to her knowledge of teaching, through workshops and trainings, some of which include the YHot series as well as YSculpt.
Her Hatha classes are a combination of breath, flowing logically-linked movements that build both strength and flexibility as well as mindfulness. Her use of hands-on assists help guide students into better alignment as well as her clear instruction are much appreciated by both new and seasoned students. But these are the practical, theoretical aspects to her teaching.
What seems to be the attraction to Alana's classes is her ability to connect to the students. To feel what is needed and offer that in class. In addition, the fun touches of using essential oils or the ritual of getting students to pick cards at the beginning of class and perhaps holding space while people share thoughts based on a theme, keep her classes interesting and lively.
When she once asked the class, "What brings you to your mat? Why are you here?" they responded - because of you!"...well, that made her cry. It is touching moments like these that remind her of how grateful she is to be doing this work; creating connections, helping people discover their own passion for this time-honoured practice.
What can students expect from your class? My classes are fun, informative, alignment based and heartfelt as well as slightly humourous...oh, and thoughtfully sequenced to awesome playlists! They are all about building community and mindfully deepening student's personal practice.
