This International Women’s Day: Her Health Matters!

In support of International Women’s Day and Women's Health on March 8th, YYoga is teaming up with BC Women’s Hospital to bring focus to the healthcare needs of women.  Women are the backbone of our society and their health matters!  Women still face sharp disadvantages in many facets of life, including health outcomes.

Enter yoga, a practice that provides numerous health and wellness benefits; from improved mental clarity, to boosted circulation, along with muscle tone and flexibility that put a spring in your step - it's a practice that’s truly for everyone.  But did you know that some aspects of the practice are notably supportive for women’s health?

Yoga: an instrumental force in supporting women’s health

This practice has been known to help ease the symptoms of hormonal shifts that women experience in many stages of life. Entire classes and sequences are dedicated to balancing these hormones that over time can help align estrogen levels, reduce cortisol, while increasing serotonin and melatonin that improve mood and sleep. Yoga can also reduce the pains associated with pregnancy as breathwork exercises help ease the experience of labour and even fast track postpartum recovery. During times of health crises, yoga helps in the recovery and support process from diseases such as breast cancer.   Finally, yoga can help reduce stress that is associated with the many roles women play in society and the community.

YYoga is proud to support BC Women’s Hospital, because Her Health Matters. Join YYoga for a class in support of Women’s Health on International Women’s Day, March 8th, 2018. 100% of proceeds from drop-ins will go to the BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre Foundation.
