Our hearts are heavy as we watch the devastation the bushfires continue to have on the people, landscape and wildlife in Australia.
We’re so grateful to the firefighters, emergency responders, wildlife rescue organizations and people who are working tirelessly to help.
Our Whistler friends are gathering this Sunday to raise money to support the needs of our Australian brothers and sisters.
Thank you to our amazing guest, Deb Bordingon, for rallying the community in support of this important cause.
This will be a gathering of the heart, and will include a silent auction where you can bid to win one of two YYOGA memberships.
Please join us and help raise money for this important cause:
Sunday, January 12th 3-6pm at Garibaldi Lift Co. (GLC) Enjoy live music, a silent auction, and much more!
Today, on behalf of our YYOGA community, we make a $2,500 donation to the GoFundMe page created by our Whistler family to help them reach their fundraising goal of $40,000.
This donation will reach Vinnies (where the funds will be directed to bushfire relief in ACT, NSW, QLD, SA, TAS and VIC.) and Wildlife Victoria.
If you’d also like to contribute, here are some other organizations you can support:
Australian Red Cross - providing direct relief to people who are affected by the wildfires, as well as supporting people (employees & volunteers) who are working in the disaster relief efforts
The Salvation Army Canadian and Australian Chapters - providing meals and other support services to evacuees and frontline responders
Australian First Nations GoFundMe page - a fundraising effort started by and for Australian First Nations peoples to offer culturally sensitive, specific & direct support to communities facing critical costs of relief & recovery
Foodbank NSW - providing vital emergency food & water relief to everyday Australians. Every $1AUD donated provides 2 meals to those in need.
GIVIT - a key stakeholder in the disbursement of charitable contributions in Australia, they partner with governments, charities and agencies to ensure the most effective and fair disbursement of donations during disaster relief efforts. 100% of funds received go to support people in devastated communities.
The RSPCA of NSW is helping people evacuate their pets and livestock (ranch farming being an essential way of life and mode of income for many rural Australians), plus leading the rescue and treatment efforts for native wildlife who have been most affected by the wildfires.
Every little bit helps.
We know we have the best, most generous community and we thank you for that.
