Many Motives: 30 Day Challenge

February 8th, 2019

As we approach the 30 Day Challenge, we asked our YYOGA team what motivates them to do the 30 Day Challenge! Here's what they had to say:

TO JOIN THE FUN

“Because I love YYOGA, the YYOGA team, community and want to engage with them even more! Also, I love yoga, but I don't do it often enough anymore! Also, I know it will be a challenge, but I'm up for it! And, my soul and brain need more yoga!" - Bailey Meek, Regional Operations Manager

"I already make it a habit to practice regularly at YYOGA as a way to nurture myself, (re)connect and ground back into my body - but I want to join the challenge as a way to support the community and join the fun, maybe take some classes I don't normally take and take more time to reflect, pause + feel as I tend to stick to a set schedule - good time to check in with myself." -Alison Klektau, Teacher

"I love practicing yoga, and I can always benefit from more yoga and fitness. I also want to take classes from more teachers, and bring more energy to our community and our challenge!" - Alex Atherton, Northshore Elements Studio Manager

TO TRY SOMETHING NEW

"I'm participating in the 30 Day Challenge because I need a push to take advantage of everything YYOGA has to offer! I can't wait to try new classes with my fellow Team Members!" -Nasiv Sall, Volunteer

"To encourage practice with new teachers, to encourage practice outside of GE shifts, to further develop my personal practice for body and mind. To feel stronger, softer, more peaceful and balanced." -Katelyn Atkins, Guest Experience

"I'm participating in the 30 Day Challenge because I love a good challenge and want to push myself to try new classes and meet new teachers!" - Laura Woods, Guest Experience

TO FEEL THE EFFECTS

"I want to participate in this challenge because I know how elevated and happy I feel when I do yoga on a frequent basis. I often make excuses that taking classes at YYOGA is hard to do on a daily basis because I live far away, but I wanted to challenge myself with the affirmation that I have the power to break my pattern of thinking, and then see how I feel by the end of the month." -Taylor Lecours, Guest Experience

"I love challenges, friendly competitions, and setting SMART goals so in 30 days I can look back with gratitude, grateful for my progress, practice, and able-body." -Miriam Putters, Guest Experience

"I want to raise the bar for myself and see what shifts can happen if let go of resistance and excuses, and show up more on the mat." - Quynh Mi, Teacher

TO RECONNECT TO THE PRACTICE (AND OURSELVES)

"Coming back after awhile of nursing some chronic injuries I'd like to reconnect with the community and get to know the new teachers and guests as well as try some new styles of classes that have been introduced since I used to come." -Janine Delabarre, Volunteer

"To reignite my connection to the yoga community and my own body and not just the studio itself." -Holly Ferguson, Downtown Flow Studio Manager

"To make an explicit commitment to taking care of myself. It is far too easy to make excuses when nobody is holding you accountable." -Zoe Nichele, Guest Experience

BUT ALSO...

"For the prizes!! (And also wellness)" -Ada Chen, Volunteer
