Studio Manager - Richmond

Position Summary
The Studio Manager (SM) is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, management and development of the studio team, teachers and studio operations. Working closely with The Area and Franchising Manager (AFM), and the Director of Programming (DOP), the SM is responsible and accountable for the execution of the strategic plan and budget for their studio. They are committed to supporting a dedicated team of people that exceed guest expectations and deliver an amazing experience.

MAIN DUTIES

Guest:

  • Ensure all team members consistently deliver YYOGA service standards
  • Model and train behaviours that promote guest engagement, community building, loyalty and sales
  • Utilize YYOGA policy & procedure to handle and resolve service issues in a timely manner
  • Stay up to date with all current and upcoming promotions, events, offerings, and policy adjustments. Clearly and actively communicate and train relevant policies to team members.
  • Experience and understand YYOGA’s services, programs and products
  • Provide feedback to the Basecamp Team regarding opportunities to evolve in support of guest and team loyalty
  • Complete regular audits of service standards


Team: 

  • Set a high example of integrity, communication, and collaboration
  • Communicate in a clear, objective, respectful, and timely manner regardless of circumstances
  • Support Supervisors or Lead to manage the flow and workload of the studio team
  • Train, coach and develop studio team members
  • Motivate and support team members to achieve individual and team goals
  • Ensure all team members follow operational policies & procedures
  • Encourage and support the ongoing growth and development of team members by providing opportunities and sharing constructive feedback and recognition in a proactive, respectful and timely manner
  • Design and manage the studio operating schedule to meet all operational needs and efficiently utilize resources
  • Lead and guide the Execution of the YYOGA HR cycle including: check-ins, reviews, performance management, succession planning and exit procedures
  • Lead the recruitment and hiring of studio team members


Finance: 

  • Manage studio activities to maximize profitability - monitor studio revenue targets on a continual basis and ensure controllable expenses are managed within budget
  • Assess studio financials and create a monthly action plan to address areas of opportunity
  • Ensure finance related duties are completed in a timely and cost efficient manner including: payroll approval,  cashout reconciliation and month end responsibilities


Facilities:

  • Ensure facilities are inviting, comfortable and well cared for - proactively communicate any repairs and maintenance work required to uphold YYOGA standards
  • Ensure that team members follow all proper health & safety systems
  • Utilize YYOGA policies and procedures to order and maintain appropriate supply levels
  • Main point of contact with the property manager, contractors, contracts and service arrangements


Programming: 

  • Regularly engage with the teaching community and attend classes within assigned studio(s)
  • Provide feedback to the DOP regarding studio schedules, class offerings and teacher fit
  • Execute programming initiatives as requested by the DOP


Marketing:

  • Ensure that all Marketing initiatives are executed
  • Participate in the execution of local community events
  • Observe and provide feedback to the Director of Marketing on new or emerging opportunities within the local community

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • 1+ years’ experience managing teams and budgets - experience in the fitness, retail, health & wellness or hospitality industry preferred
  • Strong work ethic - ability to work in a fast paced work environment, both independently and as a part of a collaborative team
  • Adaptable and quick learner with a desire to develop new skills
  • Enthusiastic, personable and professional disposition
  • Calm, thoughtful and solution oriented under pressure
  • Passion and proven ability to recruit, train, coach, develop and lead individuals and teams
  • Ability to make effective decisions that balance all business considerations
  • Strong administrative and computer skills including: attention to detail, time management and organization
  • Passionate about promoting wellness, fitness, yoga - a desire and ability to advocate for the YYOGA brand and help us expand our community of loyal members
  • 200 Hour Certified Yoga Teacher, Yoga Alliance approved
  • Ability to travel between required locations and be present at studios during key operating hours


Preferred:

  • 1+ year experience in a Studio Leadership position at YYOGA
  • University Degree
  • Experience using MindBody Online
  • First Aid and/or CPR certificate
  • Ability to speak a 2nd language

POSITION AND APPLICATION DETAILS

  • Schedule: 30 - 40 hours per week, salary role with ability to be available evenings and weekends as required by the operating needs of the studio and team
